Welcome to the Guild!

I’m so glad you’ve decided to join me on this incredible journey that is Ravel Realms.

My name is Leila Larsen and I began this idea of wanting to do something with my art a few years ago. I was part of Corporate America for over a decade until March of 2024. Out of longing and frustration, I figured I needed to find a way to return to my first love of being a creative individual. I have been a yarn lover since 2019 and an artist my entire life. In preschool, I would draw on my mom’s walls. Hehehe! Yes, I got in trouble. And in kindergarten, I won a first-place ribbon for drawing a cowgirl and a horse in crayons. I can talk more about my life as an artist in a later blog.

I’m not one to sit still for very long. It could be my ADHD and that’s why there is so much to my small shop. Everything except what I sell on the merchandise page is handmade by me so each piece you receive will be a little unique or have its own character.

Why is my focus on different realms of fantasy? Let’s say that it’s the spark to my fire. As a kid, I would play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends in the 80’s. I loved movies and books like The Neverending Story, Goonies, The Last Unicorn, Princess Bride, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and countless others. I geeked out on animation. I was employed at FUNimation (now Crunchyroll) and worked closely with the founder of HeroHelix - who created Flux Destiny. I have attended several conventions including ComicCon and AnimeFest. My husband also is a Dungeon Master and Warhammer connoisseur. So, yeah, I’m a little out of touch with reality. I would like to keep it that way. It’s more fun here.

About two years ago, I discovered I could dye my yarn. Color is my bread and butter. I’m not afraid to blend, complement, and create color story ideas. My color palette is typically bold and bright, but I can also play them down to a more natural, muted, or modern combination.

Since I’m just getting started, I have a limited amount I can sell. While my small stock is building the foundation for my business, I would love to offer you more. If you feel as passionate about fantasy, sci-fi, art, and where yarn meets them all in the middle, please browse the shop and follow me on social media and spread the word. Send me your thoughts anytime at SpeakingStone@RavelRealms.com.
